Kazakhstan Visa Intricacies and Housing
Posted: Wed September 24, 2008 01:00 AM UTC
I'm planning to go to Kazakhstan for at least a month next year. I'm wondering if I obtained a one-month tourist visa, and then spent a month there, and then left for a month or two, could I get another tourist visa to go back? If I'm there and meet someone who would be willing to sponsor me to come back soon, could I do that?

Also, I'm trying to figure out what the cost of renting an apartment and feeding myself in Kazakhstan might be, on average. I don't think I'll be in Almaty much, but even that would be useful.

Thanks!

If you are USA citizen, you don't need Kazakhstan visa, but you need check it in its embassy.
Well, on this site you'll find info about Kazalhstan embassy and how to contact with them and about its visa and customs:

Kazakhs do not ask for visa from most of the nationalities. Better to check from your Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Regarding the costs, it has 2 sides.
Almaty is quite expensive city. The apartment rental is around $2,000/month at decent location of the city with moderate luxury. The hotels are around $150.00/day or more. Food is average European.

The smaller cities are quite cheap in Almaty. I have been to Chimkent and Turkistan. Hotels are not cheap as well but food is cheaper. Do not expect to much luxury.

Have fun!

On the Kazakhstan embassy website, it says I need a visa and I need to write a statement explaining the purpose of my trip...?
