I don't know of ANY surfing going on in our Caribbean coast........ you can probably do that in Oaxaca coast, but not here. Cozumel, Cancun and surroundings are well known for snorkeling and scuba diving, but that's about it.

There are popular surf spots on the east side just south of Playa Bonita. There are no public modes of transport to get there. The waters are notorious for strong wave action, undertows and currents, you have to be very careful.
