There is no train, or convenient combination of trains, that will get you from Mexico City to any place in Latin America. You can make with a combination of (many) buses but at a certain point in Panama you'll have to take a boat or a plane because the Transamericana highway is interrupted.

Not sure you have realized it, from Mexico City to Brazil is a huge, huge distance.

Uhhh?? This sounds like a troll....

Totally agree with Giuseppe..... it's a LONG way and you have to go through at least 7 different countries, so expecting to catch ONE train or bus that will take you from Mexico city to any city in south america is a bit crazy to say the least. We don't have a reliable railway system in Mexico so forget about trains. I think central america is even worse in this regards. As for buses..... you can probably take a direct bus from Mex City to Tapachula, in Chiapas state, which is right in the border with Guatemala. From there..... yeah you will have to combine many buses through the whole central america as I don't think there will be only ONE that will take you through all of that distance, jump the Panama Canal somehow and continue by bus again (most probably using more than one bus).

good luck.....

Even when Paul Theroux wrote "The Old Patagonian Express" (1979), travelling by train through Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica - he had to bridge the gap from Panama by flying (to Colombia)! And now Wikipedia says passenger train services ceased to operate in Mexico 10 years ago, other than urban light railways and the Chihuaha Pacific.
Mexico City to Panama City alone takes 5 days on buses - and as has been said, after that you have to change means of transport. Where exactly are you trying to get to in Brazil anyway, it's a big place?!

It's virtually impossible to cross the Darian Gap - you'd basically have to go by foot.
