Hello. I will be traveling in Germany and Benelux for 12 days and was looking for advice as to which type of rail ticket to purchase and where to purchase it from. Thank you in advance for your help.

It depends where you are from and where you live. European citizens and residents can buy an 'InterRail' pass and you can get one for like 15 days which just covers a certain area (German, BENELUX).
North American citizens and residents can get a EuroRail pass, which is similar, but more expensive and doesnt include much of E Euope and N Africa (this doesnt matter since you are not going to these areas). I think there is one for S American residents and Asian residents too, but I know nothing about these. Do an internet search with the name of the ticket (depending on where you are a resident), and then you will find more information, and prices. I bought an InterRail in 2000 and I think for 30 days through the whole of Europe and N Africa it was about €500.....cant really remember though......since you are staying in one area for a shorter time it will be cheaper....just a shot in the dark.....€250
