Tirana Travel from Tirana to Sarander
Posted: Sun September 14, 2008 05:36 PM UTC
I am currently planning a trip to Albania and would like to visit Sarander so we can catch the ferry to Corfu. Does anyone know of an alternative way of getting from Tirana to Sarander, that does not involve travelling by bus? Are there taxi transfers or private companies that offer this service? Thanks!

Hello,

You can hire an Taxi from Tirana to Saranda.

I think that the distance from Tirana is around 200-230 km.

The taxi might cost around 100 Euros, if you know somebody in Albania it wold an bit less expensive.

The yellow taxis are sure and legal.

If you can take the bus that leaves in the evening and arrives in the morning.
The buses through the coast are at Kombinati and they coast around 20 euros by person.

the road through by the ionian coast is the worse in Albania although there is an beautiful view.

If you want more information fell free to ask.

Hi Dieter,
This summer I travelled down the coast and I got a taxi between Vlora and Himara. It cost me 50 euros, so I would agree with gilpema that the whole Tirana-Saranda journey would probably cost about 100. You could get an estimate by asking a few taxi drivers and go with whoever gives you the best impression. I got the taxi because I missed the bus, but it was such a fantastic experience that I'm glad I went by taxi (we stopped off at a national park to have a drink, we had a great conversation all the way down, etc). And the scenery is spectacular if you take the coast road. I've written an account of the journey, with lots of photos, it's in Spanish which I don't know if you know or not, but you can see it at http://antiarrugas.blogspot.com , if you're interested (that part is on the date 1 September.)
