Damascus where to stay and what to see
Posted: Fri September 12, 2008 04:08 PM UTC
i am an irish guy coming to damascus for the first time. i am very excited. can anyone give some top tips on what to see? also what hotels are good and reasonable. i like unique and friendly and local places. i'd rather be in the heart of the action that in some sterile 'best western' type place. also if there are any locals who want to meet up and have coffee let me know.

Lucky you!

Do have a look at the VT Damascus pages (use the searchbox top right of this page).

You'll find lots of tips (730!) about where to stay/what to see/do etc, as well as more than 44 Damascus pages written by VT-ers who've visited or live there.

You can also put a post in the 'meetings' section for VT-ers who might like to meet whilst you are there. Click on the red 'Meet Members' tab and then on the blue 'Member meetings & events' tab.

Dear friend
nice day from Damascus, i hope you are doing well.

please note that there are many good hotels in syria & you can also share another men a private room in the old town which i personally don't prefer.

i can send you a very good rates with disscounts for a botique hotels in old Damascus city area, that is very close to all attraction & you can taste daily the Syrian culture.

i am working on tourism & i can get you a good deal.
if you are intersted, please send me your dates of arrival & departure
your budget for the accommodation and if you have any special request.

regarding friends, please allow me to be your friend during your stay & after that
i had many british & american friends, we used to have a great time & exchange our experiences, thoughts & ideas.

looking forward to hear from you

best regards
Aiham
