I will be in Egypt in October and would like to visit Luxor. But i have some doubts whether do this tour, because I am afraid of too hot weather there on that time. So I would like to ask you, how is the weather in Luxor in the middle of October, and whether is the full day tour of Luxor doable.
i would like also know, whether I can hire a guide with car, which would take me to all places in Luxor, what should save my time and energy (i cannot imagine walking from place to place under the strong sun). Thank you for every advice.

We have stayed in Luxor (west bank) several times and found that ALI, who runs the Africa Restaurant close to the ferry, is always knowledgable and helpful. He has a taxi and is an authorised guide. His number is 0020123658722.

October will be fine!! One of the nicest months to visit Egypt.

The sites in Luxor are to far apart from each other to do that by foot, so a taxi will always be handy. Easy to hire a car for an entire day. Take your Egypt guide book as your guide, that will take you far enough.

Or, when you are in a hotel, your hotel will have several organised day trips to offer or will know of a trust worthy driver to take you around.
A nice way to go from Karnak to Luxor Tempel will be by caleche or hantour or coach and driver (all the same). The trip by coach through the center of Luxor is a treat in itself. Pick a coach with a healthy and well nourished horse! Some horses are exploited untill they will starve (specially in Edfu!!). And bargain a good price. I think 30 to 50 LE will be enough.

And do expect to be taken to some alabaster, perfume or papyrus shops!

You will get a cheap price when bargaining but they will take you to shops like these. The driver will get a commission each time he delivers some tourists there and the guide will take a fair percentage of the things you might buy! So that is a big addition to their daily earnings.

If you don't like to be stopped at these places express that firmly when bargaining a price and expect to pay a bit more.
