There is a difference between "not allowed" and "need to declare" .. if you carry more that 10,000 USDs or equivalent £££ then you need to declare it to the customs officer .. BUT , you are not allowed to take in or out a sum of LEs ( egyptian money) beyond a certain limit , I think it is LE 3,000 .. As I said before, I suggest that you check with the Egyptian Embassy in London before you depart as things may be changing without our knowledge and you may be risking losing your money !

By the way .. same rules apply in the UK but the sum involed is 10,000 Euros or equivalent !
