Hawaii (Big Island) Vacation rental info needed.

My wife and I will be on the Big Island from Jan 1 to Jan 7. We're thinking about staying in a condo or small cottage or house.

If anyone has info about a reputable rental agency or an individual property that they can recommend, I'd appreciate it very much.

We would not be opposed to staying a few days in one place and then changing to another location on the island too have a little different experience.

I'd like to stay in the $200 a night range or maybe higher if it's on the beach. (of course less is okay too)

google 101 things to do in Hawaii if you have not done it yet and decide what you want to do and then you can plan your stay around the sites you want to see or want to do-- just relax or go sightseeing or both?
It is a big island and you will be a doing lot of driving if you want to stay in Hilo and want to see Kona or the the other way around. The five star hotels in kona are expensive but you will make up for it when you go to hilo. You can fly into hilo and then fly out of kona or the other way around. There are a lot of places to stay.

I used Hawaiian Beach Rentals to rent a house on the North Shore of Kauai last year and they were great. You might want to check them out:

Found a house with Kona Sunsets Vacations. Ended up going way over budget but got a house with an ocean view and a big private pool.
