| Mykonos | Ferries- From Athens to Mykonos Posted: Wed September 3, 2008 10:15 PM UTC
In looking at Blue Star it shows several fare types.
Can anyone tell me what is the best. We won't need a bed because it is only 5 hours? But what is the difference in the seats in economy or business?? Thanks |

There are two sub-categories of economy seating. The least-expensive is open deck seating around basic plastic tables and chairs, some under cover, some not, all first-come-first-served. The other, for just a few euro more, is aircraft-style reserved seats in a separate indoor lounge area. You can still get up and walk around the ship. Business class is a better quality, separate indoor lounge area that those with economy tickets are not permitted to enter. Really, the economy aircraft-style lounge seating is the best deal going, especially for such a short trip.

We bought the cheapest tickets available; we're the type who like to be up and about anyway, wandering around the ship, sitting up on deck, watching the views, trying to name the islands we pass, taking photos. Sitting copped away indoors, even with a steward to bring us drinks, just isn't for us. The ferries are great; we went on the Naxos, Paros, Ithaki and Superferry II - I think SF II was my favourite, though the others are more modern and faster.

Athens to Mykonos is a 5 hour ferry trip? We are traveling there mid October. What is the best way to book ferry passage?

When you get to the Athens Airport find the travel desk of Amphitrion Holidays in the Main Hall between exit/entry doors 2 & 3. They're open 24/7 and can sell you the ferry tickets you need.

There are dozens of ticket sellers at the port of Piraeus, they can also point you out where to get the specific ferry.
