Abu Dhabi Good location for single female?
Posted: Wed September 3, 2008 10:08 PM UTC
Hi,
I have an unexpected week off and want to take a holiday somewhere hot and safe. I qondered if spendinig a week in a resort hotel in Abu Dhabi would be a nice thing to do. Would I be ok as a woman on my own?
Thanks

You'll be safe as a single woman in Abu Dhabi. What sort of holiday are you after though? Dubai has a better night scene and places like Ras Al Khaimah and Fujeriah have great beaches. If you're after a quiet break, then Abu Dhabi would be OK. More touristy stuff in Dubai though.

Also, remember that it's Ramadan at the moment. No eating, drinking and smoking in public during day light for the month of September.

Thanks for that. I really just want somewhere relaxing to kick back for a week. So a good resort hotel where I can lounge around a pool (that isn't too souless and full of business-men), and close enough to some decent shopping and places to eat!

I've only been there a couple of times so I couldn't recommend anywhere to shop or eat but there are loads of lovely hotels - one of the things that the UAE does best!! Perhaps do some day trips while you're there i.e. desert safaris, snorkelling/diving trips, Mussandam....

If you are looking for a quit place i prefer Fujeirah Alaqa they have good resorts like Jaal Hotel and Resorts, Rotana Hotel, Le Meridian Alaqa. I have been to these places and its really nice. You will get speical Ramdan discount prices. You will be safe as well and there is transport facility from every hotel.

Hamed

I believe hotels in Dubai are more in to tourist activities, and you would be completely safe and pampered within the hotel premises. Most of Dubai hotels provide courtesy transport to shopping malls and tourist locations.
Safe trip and Good luck.
