Cycling Trip Advice Posted: Wed September 3, 2008 08:51 PM UTC
Hi there! My name is Liam and I am attempting to plan a big bike(cycling) trip from Victoria B.C, to Tijuana Mexico (or anywhere on the border of The states and Mexico) and I am looking for any advice that anybody might have about a route, temperatures for the fall months, topography of the terrain, anything you might think is helpful. So far, as I have no real knowledge of the American coast/ western states, the route I have takes me south on Highway 5. I picked this route because of the fact that it seems to travel directly through the center of California, in between both the coastal Mountains and the sierra-nevadas. However, this is a highly flexible plan, as I am willing to take whatever time is necessary to travel on a good route. I would like to see some of the coastline as much as possible, and I figured the best place to do this would be in Oregon/ Washington, then cut inland near California. One of the major allures of this plan is that i could avoid the big cities, such as Los angeles and San diego, which would consist of days of city biking in a place which I am a complete stranger to. How ever, I would like to see San Francisco, so that was were I am intending to cut inland. So if anyone knows the highways of the area, I would love to hear from you. Like I said, any advice would be appreciated. Thank you very much for your time.

Sincerely, Liam Wacey
