Bratislava Bratislava Visit.

Hi! To VT's,I will be travelling from Dresden to Budapest and would be keen to stay a couple of nights in Bratislava. Is it worth the stop over, and can I break my journey in Bratislava and then onward to Budapest on the same ticket. What would it cost me.Am not interested in stopping in Prague. Was there only a few months ago.
Any recommendations for accommodations in both Bratislava and Budapest.Would like to rent an apartment(studio)in Budapest.
I would be travelling on a SCHENGEN visa, within europe.Recently Slovakia was admitted to the EU,amongst other countries. Can i enter Slovakia on the SCHENGEN visa.
All suggestions and tips would be more than welcome.
Cheers and all the very best.
Jayarep.
ps:still cannot find an affordable accommodation in Dresden for one week, need help.
Is there a discount for seniors on rail tickets.

Being a member of the EU does not automatically mean a country chooses to fully implement the Schengen agreement (the UK and Ireland haven't, for example) but Slovakia has fully implemented Schengen since 30th March this year.

I don't know whether you can break your journey on one ticket, but see no reason why you should want to: it's unlikely to be a much cheaper option. Just get a ticket from Dresden to Bratislava, then from Bratislava to Budapest. You don't need to buy tickets online in advance.

http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml

will give you European train times (and fares for German-originating journeys).

For Dresden accommodation try

Try to find an accomodation here http://www.bratislava-apartments.sk/index.html. I have never slept there, I slept here http://www.supernavigator.sk/navigator/profile_firm.php?lang=en&id=12021467 I was satisfied there, but it is not in the centre. Bratislava is worth to see. If you are interested in architecture, there are interesting and original historical and modern buildings there for example. You could not miss The Castle, Old town, The National Theatre - historical building and the new one too. You can have a meal or do shopping in a modern shopping centre, there are a few there. There are only 4 bridges across Danube, but 2 of them is worth to see - Apollo and the one with UFO above. There is a Zoo too and a pleasant large park on the bank of Danube. TV tower could be interesting too and a nice view is from Slavin, the memorial of soldiers died in WWII. Public transportation works quite often, it is not expensive for foreigners.
