Planning visit mid Feb. 2009 16 days. Feedback on Ermitage & Balmoral hotels would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

I've never stayed in any of these hotels, Montevideo is my hometown.
Both seem good hotels (4****) but in different locations. Balmoral is right in downtown while Ermitage is in Pocitos area, just a block from the beach in a very nice neighbourhood with no many other hotels around. If you are comming in feb (summer) I think I'd pick the Ermitage, although is an old, restyled hotel.
If you need more detailed info, please ask and I'd try to answer.
Regards,

Rafa

Thanks for the info. Is Ermitage to downtown too far to walk and public transport easily available?

It's a bit too far to walk to downtown, 3.5 - 4 kms, but public transport is not a problem there. You have buses every few minutes to downtown and taxis are not so expensive as it's not too far away. A taxi to downtown might cost about USD 4-5 aprox.
