In most cities I think 3- 4 hours would be considered Long term Parking and charged accordingly . Maybe as much as £6 or more.

There is a map of all Glasgow city centre car parks here:

http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/GettingAround/Parking/Carparks/

You will see that there is a car park on Castle Street near the cathedral. Click on 'City Centre north east' on the right-hand menu for details of charges etc (60p per hour). It is, however, quite a small car park so you may well have to search for alternative parking nearby.

When Isaid 'all', I meant council car parks. You may well find other, privately-run parking (often multi-storey): this will always be more expensive than council-owned car parks.

The multi storey car park at Buchanan galleries would be fine for you. You enter at North Hanover Street and it`s not far to walk along to the Cathedral. All of the multi storey car parks would be good for you. The city centre is not too big and you could always walk to the car. There is plenty of parking to the east of the cathedral in the John Knox Street/Duke Street area but your car may not be so safe.
