| Bangkok | Airport Taxi Posted: Wed August 27, 2008 01:11 PM UTC
Hello All,
I know this has probably been covered many times but wondered if someone could tell me the best way to get a taxi when I land at the airport. I've read that there is many touts trying to get you to go with them instead of the metered taxis. Which way do I go to get the metered taxis? Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks Leon |

If you are arriving at Suwanabhumi...
#1. Come out of the baggage check / customs area. Then you'll be in a greeting area... it is here the touts start on you. (IGNORE THE SIGNS FOR "PUBLIC TAXI". You are looking for meter taxis.) #2. Turn right so you are walking towards a revolving glass door. #3. Exit the terminal by the revolving door. (You can also use the normal door next to the revolving door, but me? Well if a revolving door is there then why not have a go on it. They are fabbo are revolving doors. ) ...This will be on your left and about ten to twenty yards from the greeting area. #4. Over the pedestrian bridge and past the smokers. #5. Get to the pavement / sidewalk. Then look for where they have set up a desk, - it sometimes moves - it is sometimes to the right sometimes to the left. If you can't see it immediately look to see where all the METER TAXIS are parked and head that way, you'll see a queue of travellers and a queue of taxi drivers. (The taxis will be greens, yellows, blues, pinks explosions in paint factories - and have meter signs on the top of them) Should take you two minutes maximum from leaving the customs area. #6. Get a ticket from the folk behind the desk, and then team up with a taxi driver.

PS Stampo me old fruit.
Your tip is really good. BUT since it was written the taxis have moved - so you don't go down a level anymore. Personally I am disgusted that the taxi authorities have not alerted VT to this change. The little buggers that they are. I don't know. Tsch. A modern civilised society and they do this. I mean it's not what you want is it? I'm going to have a word with the T.A.T.

The best way is taking elevator to the 4th floor and go out from the airport. Many taxis waiting for you. Make sure that the driver turn on meter, no charge at all. You don['t have to wait for cue either.
