Dawn,

Try Castle Peak Hotel, its a nice hotel located at F. Cabahug St., Mabolo Cebu City. a 15 minute walk to Ayala Business Center, and one ride jeepney to SM. i was in cebu last week and have to upload some pictures yet to my cebu page so as you may have some idea about the hotel.

Well I have never been inside but I used to live one block away at the Cebu Century hotel on the corner of Colon and Pelaez Street. So I can tell you about the area.

You will be right at one of the busiest intersections in the whole of Cebu City.

Finding a taxi won't be a problem as they will be going past night and day and when things slow down at night, taxis will be parked in the streets nearby, especialy along Pelaez Street.

From the hotel, it will be walking distance to all the downtown tourist attractions mentioned in my reply to your Cebu spots post. If you looked at the link provided,
http://www.bigjimsphilippinesexperience.com/cebu_tour.htm
you will see the map at the bottom of the link. Look for Metro Gaisano, on the top left of the map, then chowking. The hotel is nearly next to chowking. Grid markings on the map are 500 metres apart.

The area is a commercial hub in the daytime with department stores, supermarkets, electrical stores, pawn shops, cinemas, many dining choices, pharmacies, doctors, attorneys, a variety of ATM machines, optometrists and dentists all within about 100 metres of the hotel.

At night, it becomes a bit sleezy although the hotel is away from the sleeziest parts of down town Cebu City.

You appear to be a Filipina. Cheap Filipino food is available one block away at Pete's Kitchen, on Pelaez Street. You can also eat cheap Filipino food at the food court on the top level of Metro Gaisano. At night, there will also be many barbecue stands to choose from. Late at night, tables are set up on the roadway, around the corner from your hotel on Colon. It will probably be the cheapest food you will see, not cooked by yourself at home. I am a big person and big eater. P40 buys enough food to fill me up, on the late night street carenderia.

I hope this helps!

hope im not too late..have you made your trip to cebu? why la guardia hotel? it's a bit old i think...is it still open? hehe... if you want accessibility to the malls, sarrosa or castle peak would be good choices, but i think one of the uptown hotels near capitol/fuente osmena would be wiser options because most of these are newer than la guardia and would cost between 800-1600 at most..
