Hi,
I have another question ???

I will be travelling by train from Bromley to Canterbury for a day trip.
Is the train station in Canterbury within walking distance of the town center ?
Also does anyone know if there will be Christmas music in the Cathedral on the 17th-19th Dec.

Look forward to replies.
Thanks
Jean (Canada)

Censors from NZ? How odd.

Most English railways stations are within easy walking distance of town centres...it's the way it happened when the railways were first introduced in Victorian times. There are two stations in Canterbury (East and West), but only around 1km apart. Trains from Bromley go to both, so you'll need to work out which one you'll end up at.

Put the postcodes CT2 8AN (Canterbury West) and CT1 2RB (Canterbury East) into www.streetmap.co.uk (click the postcode button before you search) and you will get detailed streetmaps showing you exactly where the stations are.

There will be Christmas concerts etc, of course. The searchable events diary on the cathedral website will let you know if anything is happening when you can be there:

The fast trains from Bromley South Station go to Canterbury East which is about 10 minutes walk from the city centre. Slower trains go to Canterbury West which is also about 10 minutes walk, through the historic Westgate.

(it has always puzzled me that Canterbury West station is to the north of the city and Canterbury East is to the south!)

Shall be there myself next week.
