Salzburg Dress code for Mozart concert at castle?
Posted: Tue August 26, 2008 05:56 PM UTC
My husband and I are going to the dinner and concert held at the castle in October. As we will be backpacking, we am trying to minimize the number of clothes we bring.

Would a skirt, blouse and sandals be appropriate for me, and khaki pants and collared shirt for my husband? Also, will open-toe sandals be weather-appropriate in mid-October in Salzburg?

Thank you in advance.

I suspect you'll see all kinds of dress at the concert so it may depend on where your seats are. However, I hope you are taking more than sandals since you are nearly guaranteed some rain in October. Open-toed shoes are not fun in the rain. Just a suggestion . . . 8^)

Enjoy Mozart!

Don't know if this would work for you but my husband wears black leather tennis shoes and they are great for walking and look good enough to wear to concerts and church.

What you are planning on wearing will be fine. I've been up the castle to watch a Mozart concert and that is what I wore. It wasn't a really fancy affair.

I just wonder if you will be dressed warmly enough, when I left Germany on 5th October 3 years ago it was freezing and my teeth were chattering even with an anorak on.
