Barcelona Hotel Amrey Diagonal - Distance from Airport & Harbour
Posted: Tue August 26, 2008 11:39 AM UTC
Hi, 4 of us are travelling to Barcelona for 2 nights before going on a cruise. We've booked the Hotel Amrey Diagonal on Av. Diagonal 161-163 -- how far is this from Barcelona Internation Airport and how much should a taxi cost? Also, how far is this hotel from the harbour where we will board the ship? Is it easy to get to Las Ramblas from this hotel?

Many thanks for any replies.

Funny enough, I can see the Amrey Diagonal from my office window right now....

The area is not bad, but not really the best location regrading airport and cruise harbour (nearly at the opposite part of the city). You should better take taxis to both, any public transport options will involve changes and take lots of time. Taxi from BCN airport will take 30-40 min or more, depending on the traffic (at some hours the seaside circumvalation ring tends to be very congested), and cost about 30 € (be aware they will charge what is on the meter, plus airport fee of a few euros, plus 1€ per each piece of luggage on the trunk, we usually do not tip or give just a couple of euros, to round the figure). Taxi to the harbour will take about 15-20 min and about 15-20 euros I guess (never done this!)

Las Ramblas are too far away to walk there as well. Well, maybe not so far away (4-5 Km) but the area you should cross to get there is nothing to remember, and quite easy to get lost... so better spend your time somewhere more interesting! You can walk 10 min from the hotel to the metro stop at Glories, and take there L1 to Plaça de Catalunya (squere between Las Ramblas and Passeig de Gràcia, very city centre)

have fun!
