Hi mate,
Travelodge is about halfway up Broad St so you'll have pleny of bars to choose from for daytime drinking, just off Broad Street opposite Walkabout bar is BrindleyPlace with a loads of good bars and behind that is the Mailbox complex, again loads to choose from, if it's nice weather any of these places are great to sit outside on the canal and they'll all be busy.
For a curry you should jump in a cab to the 'Balti triangle' which is the area around Stratford Road in Sparkhill/Sparkbrook and the Ladypool Road which runs adjacent, you'll be spoiled for choice just get dropped off and walk around and see what catches your eye, some are licenced, some not but allow 'bring-your-own-bottle' it's a really colourful place and will be buzzing till the early hours so don't worry that you're no longer in the City Centre.
As for a night-cap my personal favourite is Revolution on Broad St it's just a few mins walk from the Travelodge and is open till 2am on a Sunday - this month they're doing 2-4-1 cocktails all-day every-day but as your here Sep that will prob be over and a new promotion going on, or if that doesn't float your boat instead of heading back to Broad St go to Arcadian Centre in centre of the City, it's a complex full of bars and no attitutde so you can't really go wrong down there as there is something to suit all taste - much better than the run of the mill chain pubs on Broad St really!
Whatever you decide I'm sure you'll have a great time, if you need any more info let me know
