Niagara Falls cleveland,ohio to niagara falls,US side

I am planning to visit Niagara falls,US side in first week of september..
can anyone suggest the better way to travel from cleveland to niagara falls,us side?
renting a car or is there a public transportation? I m planning for a weekend trip.. actually I am in Chicago.. I am thinking of taking a megabus to cleveland,oh then going from there to niagara falls may be cost effective..
any plans or suggestions is most welcome..
looking forward for ur replies..

You can take a train from Chicago to Buffalo via Cleveland (it's an overnight train), then take a public bus to Downtown Niagara Falls, NY, then walk across to the Canadian side. It will require a couple of transfers though because the Buffalo train station is out in the suburbs a bit.
Putting Megabus in there somewhere may be cheaper and a little easier.
