Dear friends of Virtual tourist: i am travelling to Syria and lebanon in beginning september..just few days.I would like to know what is a must to visit in this countries..any information you have could help me.Transports between Syria and Lebanon,i am a spanish citizen.Any customs..currency to use there..and advice about how to move..where to sleep cheap..could help me.

Syria and Lebanon... I was there in 2005! Great places!

You must visit Damascus! Also Aleppo, Krak de Chevalier, Palmyra, Homs, Ugarit and the Bekkah Valley. Rather than me write pages here, why don't you view my VT travel pages and albums? Also, may I recommend 'Wandering Camel'---his VT sight also includes good pages on Syria.

Hi Toni!

I was in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan last April in group tour. I visited: Beirut - Bekaa Valley (Baalbek) - Byblos (crossed border) Krak des Shevaliers – Palmira – Maalula - Damascus – Bosra - (crossed border) – Jeyrash – Amman – Red Sea – Petra – Vadi Ram Desert. Of course, Lebanon and Syria are not tourist countries yet (way and socialism way in past) so I advise to buy a tour. Native people prefer US dollars (they don’t know how EURs look like), but you can change EURs in banks. At the beginning of September is usual very hot, be ready for it.
But those countries are very very interesting!
