Cusco Quito to Cusco......overland?

I plan to go from Quito to Cusco in mid January.....flying is so expensive...anyone know if going overland is feasible?

It is feasible, however January is the height of the rainy season, especially as you near Cusco so you might get stuck in a mud slide or worse. Might be wise to bus it to Lima and then fly. You should be able to get a decent fare in January.

Agree with Sam. Check with TACA and StarPeru, though LAN Peru has more frequencies Lima-Cusco.

Quito to Cusco is doable but I think the suggestion of flying at least one way from Lima to or from Cusco makes good economic and practical sense. One way flights cost half as much as roundtrip flights so you have flexibility. (The flight is about an hour and 20 minutes and the bus is 20-28 hours.) You could go one way by bus and the other by air and can breakup the road journey to experience a number of interesting sights along the way. I would suggest that you also breakup your trip from Quitos to Lima.
