Hello,

This can be of minor importance, spending long hours at the airport taking into account time consumed to check in and out of the airport, but I thought someone here would give me a feedback on how to spend fruitful time at that airport. I'll be accompanied by a child and so any ideas on how to keep a child busy and/or comfortable will be most appreciated.

I will paste below some hints to you:

Abu Dhabi International Airport Hotel (tel: (02) 575 7377) is a transit hotel which has around 40 rooms, as well as a VIP lounge, restaurant, bar, children’s playroom, massage chairs, health club with jacuzzi, fully-equipped business centre, sauna and gym. In addition, the hotel has a lounge in which travellers can rest before their flight and a secure luggage room.


Eating and drinking: There are coffee shops, snack bar and a bar/restaurant in Terminal 1. There are cafes both on the landside and on the airside of Terminal 2.
Shopping: There is a duty-free shopping complex and additional shopping opportunities within the terminals. The retail space at the airport was vastly increased with the opening of two new terminals in 2005, and a new arrival shop has also been opened in Terminal 1.

Well having a child and having to spend many hours in the airport, maybe the airline you are travelling with can offer you accommodation!! Just check it with them. Etihad Airways probably would do it.
