Hey all!

Me and my wife are about to book a safari at Kruger Park for next November. We're still undecided whether to book a private or group Safari..

Anyone can suggest what's best?

I like the groups. It is wonderful to see other peoples reactions.

Mate, very much depends on your personality. I'm more of an independent traveller, so I'd prefer private. You get a nice communal spirit with group tours and share experiences, which in itself is a positive. On the other hand, you'll probably receive more personal attention from the game warden on a private tour, and possibly even see sights not usually on the group tourist trail.

I agree with a private tour. My reason for saying this is that decisions on time becomes more your decision. What I mean is if for example you come accross a pride of lions,and you want to spend 20 minutes watching them,then in a private tour you can.In a group tour you might spent "to little" or "to much" time at different sightings, and you usually have somebody in a group who is not happy about something.

Go private...and the decisions are the tour guides,your wifes and yours.

We had the same feelings about the group! It could be fun as you meet people and make friends but on the other hand we think that a safari is nicer to experience it in a small number!

Have you considered doing it yourself? Hire your own car and organise your own accommodation. Most of the lodges have game drives that you can join if you want, or you can just go out on your own. It gives you the flexibility to join a group or do your own thing.
