Shalom:
I believe that the only thing you have in San Diego and CANNOT get anywhere or for any price in Israel is the SEA !!
But seriously everything is available very readily here in Israel. The only thing that you might consider bringing is if you require special prescription drugs, some are not available here but they do have their alternatives.
Enjoy your stay.

We even have some things here that you might not have there :)
Like the Dead Sea, and Petra close by and - - - especially - - - Jerusalem!

Remember it is not too late to join the VT World Meet08 in Jerusalem and the Dead Sea + Petra extension!

Martin--I do not know how you can write he won't have the SEA in Israel. I am sitting and looking out my window at the beautiful Mediterranean SEA.!!

I'll second to bring your perscription meds. Sunscreeen--while easily available is a lot more expensive here. Bottom line there is nothing you could possibly need that you can't get here. ( except $$--I assume you are coming on a tourist Visa and thus unable to work!! -:)

Shalom RDGLady, I saw your answer "Martin--I do not know how you can write he won't have the SEA in Israel. I am sitting and looking out my window at the beautiful Mediterranean SEA.!!" and agree that I enjoy the Mediterranean also, but it is not and never will have the awesome power of the Pacific..if you have visited California along the northern coast during a storm and seen the waves breaking along the shore you will know what I mean. I have not seen it surpassed by any other spot in the USofA (Hawaii is a close second ;O))
Yes I agree that many of the things ARE more expensive here, but today usually not outlandishly so although I did just order some shirts from Lands End and even with the import tax they were less expensive than their equals here.

Yeah - I'm thinking you won't be getting HOMESICK! Israel has a way of getting under your skin and making you feel as though, if not exactly at "home", then at least "home away from home"...

(I've yet to visit Haifa but have that on my immediate short list for next visit.)

Have an extraordinary experience...and be sure to advise about it afterwards!

Shalom,
michele
