Eugene cheap decent place to spend the night...

Hello friends!
I'll consider suggestions about campgrounds as well as cheap motels.
I'll be in Eugene on the 5th and Cottage Grove on the 6th for a couple of concerts that my friend and I want to go see. I imagine we'll be going to sleep really late, so a humble place is just fine for us. ...but safe, and clean would be great!
By the way, is it true that in Oregon it is legal to crash with a tent on any rest-stop along the freeway?
...yes, we're 2 musician on a tight budget ;)

thank you so much!

Regarding highway rest-stops, no you cannot set up a tent. The regulations also say you are limited to 12 hours in any 24-hour period in a rest-stop.

In Eugene, I've only stayed in expensive places, but there are two Motel 6's, which you could check on-line. Or investigate the Oregon State Parks website for camping. There are also private campgrounds around that you could Google.

Be careful about the speed limit around Eugene, as the police are very assiduous about watching for and fining anyone over the speed limit. I got my only ticket ever in my life for driving 65mph in a 60mph zone. Good luck!
