Scandinavia Trains in Scandinavia
Posted: Tue August 19, 2008 03:32 AM UTC
Hello!

We will travel to Norway, Sweden, and Copenhagen at the end of September.

It makes financial sense for us to purchase railpasses. We are debating purchasing a Scansaver pass, or else a Select pass (first class).

Are many/most of the trains in Scandinavia second class only? Is second class comfortable for longer train rides (e.g. greater than 4 hours).

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hehe =D You can't delete / move your posting - just repost in the correct forums.. :o)

I can answer re Norwegian trains, though! Yes, the long-distance trains are basically one class only - but you can buy NSB Komfort as a supplement (75 NOK) if you wish, those 75 NOK will get you "free" coffee / tea, Norwegian newspapers (in Norwegian, of course - very useful for tourists...;o) and access to a power outlet for your laptop. I find the regular seats to be pretty comfortable on Norwegian regional trains (I mostly travel Bergen - Oslo, ca 7 hours)

You can read more here: http://www.nsb.no/on_board/
