Erasmus in Bristol Posted: Sun August 17, 2008 02:26 PM UTC
Hi! I am a portuguese girl going to Erasmus next October, at the University of Bristol. Can anyone please help me with a place to stay? What are the safest areas? I am totally lost.
Regards,
Marta.

You should contact the university, and students' union (you will automatically be a member of this) for good, useful advice on suitable accommodation.
The relevant contact point for the University's Erasmus students is on this page:
http://www.bristol.ac.uk/internationalcentre/europe/contacterasmusstudy.html
This page tells you about Erasmus accommodation:
http://www.bristol.ac.uk/accommodation/ugs/ex/
This is the students' union website page about accommodation:
https://www.ubu.org.uk/support/welfare/welfare-by-issue/housing
and here are their contact details:
https://www.ubu.org.uk/support/welfare/ubu-welfare-contacts
Use the university's support network: it's what it is there for. No-one is expecting you to sort everything out by yourself!
You'll enjoy your time at Bristol!

Thank you so much!
I already knew the university sites, but the two last links are going to be useful, I think.
How about the city? Can you give me some tips about the city life? I already searched, but I wanted to know more...
Thanks again!

Although I'm a Brit, I have to admit I know little or nothing about Bristol: it's not somewhere I've ever explored.
But lots of VT-ers do. Have a look at the Bristol pages you'll find linked on:
http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Avon/Bristol-316317/TravelGuide-Bristol.html
There nearly 700 tips about what to see/do/where to go as well.
You'll know more than I do about the place by the time you've read them all!

You will be absolutely fine.....remember, you won't be the only overseas student, and you'll find that within just a couple of days you'll have new friends. be exploring, having fun etc etc.
O.....and studying as well, of course! :-)

Bristol is an extremely multicultural city, with a lot to do for students. I am sure you will have a great time here.
