I am heading back to East Africa in October and touring with a company I have dealt with before in Nairobi whom I found very good. They are Hammerkop Safaris and they do quite a few personal tours. Look at their website www.hamerkopsafaris.com.
As to the the public facilities in the Serengeti. I was there last a few years ago in a campsite and there was a drop toilet, and a little way away some showers that the Cape Buffalo regarded as their own!! Having said that it was one of the best experiences we had,you go to the Serengeti for the excitement of waking up to the roar of the lions as we did,not to have 5 star luxury. Campsites are very basic but the view is unforgettable.
Friends did the ballooning there and also said it was amazing,so much so that we are booked in for it this time. It is not cheap, around $450 US or a little more so it will be our treat for this trip. Regina from Hammerkop can organise it all for you.
Have a ball and take LOTS of unforgettable photos.
