Haifa Tours???
Posted: Tue August 12, 2008 12:55 PM UTC
I am visting my brother in Haifa in september with my fiancee. We want to take a one day tour from Haifa to Jerusalem in English, is this offered by anyone??? Or do we have to go to Jerusalem first and then start the tour from there?

Also we went to visit Eilat. What is the best way to get to Eliat from Haifa? Should we take the bus? Should we take the train to Tel Aviv and then hop a flight to Eilat?

Finally we want to visit Petra at some point for a day. What is the best way to get to Petra from Haifa?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. This will be very helpful in planning a perfect trip!

The tours listed on the Egged Tours page all leave from Tel Aviv, Netanya or Herzilyah, not from Haifa. I feel sure that there must be such however, so maybe contact them.

You have to scroll down a bit to see the tours listed:
Egged Tours: http://www.egged.co.il/Eng/main.asp?lngCategoryID=2727

Booking & Information 1-700-70-75-77; 03-9203919 or email us
israel-4-u@eggedtours.co.il

United Tours lists 1-day trips to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv only:
http://www.inisrael.com/united/asg/Item_237.html
Email: united1@netvision.net.il

This would be a v-e-r-y long and tiring day if there is such a tour in any case.

Since you also want also to see Eilat, I suggest you consider travelling to Jerusalem by regular bus, take a guided tour or do it on your own, spend the night in Jerusalem and then take a tour of Eilat from Jerusalem.

Once in Eilat there are hundreds of jeep and bus tours to Petra for 1 -3 days.
Googled it and got 285,000 hits :)

The best way to go Eilat in my opinion is by flight, especially if you are a tourist and your time is precious. I believe that there is a direct flight from Haifa twice a day, the flight time is about 1 hour and the price around $100 - see link here: http://www.israirairlines.com/category_ru.asp?cid=5. The other way is by bus; you have a direct bus twice or 3 times a day from Haifa to Eilat. I think that the trip time is about 4 hours each way, the cost is less than 100 Shekel, and you can make a reservation by phone - see a link here: http://www.egged.co.il/Eng/main.asp?lngCategoryID=2771
I am no expert on Jerusalem, but I heard from friends that guided Segway tours are not only beautiful, but also great fun. The information that you posted about yourself here is rather scarce, so it’s hard for me to guess if such a tour fits you, but if they do, then I am sure that the tour operator will help you arriving there from Haifa. See here a link which might be useful for this purpose: http://tinyurl.com/6n7p8y

Marius,

The segway tour is something I would definatly be interested in. I tried going to the link you posted but it brought me to an article on JPOST. Is that the correct link? If not can you repost it . Thank you.

The most efficient way to get from Haifa to Tel Aviv is by train, if your tour starts in Tel Aviv - especially during rush hour. If it starts in Jerusalem, there is a bus from Haifa to Jerusalem. However it stops in at least 1 or 2 places, so it would be more efficient to take the train to Tel Aviv Central, and then take the direct, nonstop bus from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem (no. 480, leaves every 15-20 minutes from Tel Aviv Central).
