Brisbane Christmas Housesitting
Posted: Mon August 11, 2008 10:50 AM UTC
My wife and I are stopping off in Brisbane over Christmas after a two month road tour of the western US. Our daughter and son-in-law are coming down from Bundaberg to spend the week with us. We are hoping to keep our costs down by arranging to house-sit for someone who will be out of town over the period. We are reponsible homeowners in our 50s and 60s and Tracey and Steve are 28 and 41 respectively. We would be interested in anything within about 50km of the CBD, and would prefer somewhere on the coast, but beggars can't really be choosers. Our proposal should represent a win-win for both parties and we would obviously negotiate a price which would be acceptable to the homeowner. We are due to arrive in Brisbane on Christmas Day and we fly home on 2 January 2009. We look forward to hearing any ideas or offers.

Would you consider a home exchange, I have often looked at Homelink website and it seems very reputable to me. Costs about $A260 per year to be a member. If your stay in Brisbane is only a week then this would not be economical but say you wanted to stay longer I,m sure you could find something.

Thanks Margaret. Yes we had considered the house exchange but discounted it for just the reason you mentioned. Having had a housesitter in our own place while we were away for 3 months some years ago I know that it is great for peace of mind - as long as you know something about the person doing the house-sitting, of course.

Hi there
I live on the Gold Coast but will be away visiting family for Christmas so my 2BR townhouse will be vacant. It's not Brisbane but if you're interested let me know?
