| London | Whats on in London on 16 August and.. Posted: Thu August 7, 2008 07:12 PM UTC
HI you VTs, am going to London on 16 August, is there any places where you can get some great shopping without going to either Oxford Street area or Camden Town - and not Gucci expensive more like Mango and Zarah style?
And can anybody reccommend a 4 star hotel which is around 1 hours walk from the center, love to walk - think it is the best way to get to know a place - and not only walking around in all the crowded places, would like to see something else than Piccadilly Circus even though its a fab area! If you have time and is in London - then maybe we could meet for a drink or something! |

There's a Zara in High Street, Kensington, though no Mango (look at http://www.londontown.com/LondonStreets/kensington
Another possible shopping area is Queensway in Bayswater, see http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/westminster/b This is my favourite London Hotel, I'm sure you could walk for an hour to Piccadilly Circus or, say, the other end of Oxford Street: http://www.durrantshotel.co.uk/, I've walked from there across Hyde Park to Knightsbridge which must have taken me about that long. It's situated behind the Wallace Collection, which is itself sort of behind Selfridges, and around the corner from another nice shopping area. You could also, from nearby Portman Square, take a bus all the way to the Brent Cross Shopping Centre which has a branch of just about everything (including Zara but not Mango: for Mango I only know of the branches in Oxford St. and Neal St. near Covent Garden).

Hi! As you probably know Zara and Mango are Spanish shops, which have great clothes. Also consider English shops such as Top Shop, River Island, Next, Wallis, Principles, plus cheaper places such as PriMark, New Look, TK Maxx.
Have a great trip! Best Wishes, Sue X
