| Vienna | what to see Posted: Tue August 5, 2008 07:56 PM UTC
I will have approx 6hrs in Vienna. Do I just wander around or are there things I should really try to see?

With six hours, you are probably best to wander around the Stephansplatz area to start and from there move to the Imperial Palace and the Opera and perhaps a tram ride around the Ringstrasse. If you have enough time, I have heard it suggested that you do the Ringstrasse twice so that you can see all of one side the first time and all of the other side the next time. It's also nice to stroll along the Canal and choose a restaurant when it's time to eat from the many on offer. It's a great area to relax and people watch as well.

Im actually going on a day visit from Bratislava with my wife. I really dont know much about Vienna or what to see but we like looking at old architecture but we,re not too bothered about visiting museums especially as we won't have much time. A walk down by the water sounds good and any recommendations for somewhere to get a bite to eat would be welcome. Whats the Ringstrasse? Can you walk round it or do you need to take the tram?
