just like it would be spelled Steyer, but the 2nd E is almost not spoken.
we also have the most common name of Austria: Mayer, Meier,Meyer in a spelling like Mayr - and everybody would pronounce it just the same way, like the ones that have and ER at the end

"Steyr" in German does not really sound like "stair" in English. The "st" is spoken as "sht", the "ey" like "y" in "my". So, if the word would have to be written in English, it would probably read "shty-air" and would have to be spoken with a very short second syllable.
