I am from the UK and am interested in going to Weirs Beach, Laconia. I can get a flight to Boston, but am wondering what would be the best way to get from Boston to Weirs Beach. Any ideas?

just take 93 North all the way, I think Exit 20 Tilton/Laconia is the best exit. Take a left at the end of the exit and follow the signs to Weirs Beach (about 20 minutes from the exit depending on traffic.

Sorry I should have been more specific - I'm wanting to use public transport to get there. I have no idea what buses and trains would be available to me. If anyone can help me with regard to trains/buses that would be great.

Public transport to such areas is likely to be basic bus (Greyhound)for about 2 hours to Laconia from South Station in Boston, with no local public transportation once you arrive in the lakes area, other than perhaps a local taxi. Best to rent a car to get around.

But would it be possible to hire a car for a week or so in Boston and use it up in Laconia before coming back? I suppose it should be but I need to check these things out...

yes, when you rent a car in the US you can take it anywhere in the country.
