Re: getting around on the bus/train during a day trip Posted: Sat August 2, 2008 10:51 AM UTC
Hello you can buy a saveaway this is a pass that you can use throughout the whole of Liverpool, Wirral (Birkenhead), and Southport.

I'm not sure if you can buy them in advance id have a good search of the merseytravel website, if not when you get ferry docks walk along the river towards the merseyferrys its not too far if the Manx ferry still docks where it used to right on the pier head. You will be able to buy one there and you can catch the world famous merseyferry (included in the price of the saveaway if you buy all zones) over to woodside which is the Birkenhead ferry terminal.
From there you can catch a bus or a Train into Birkenhead town centre and back over to Liverpool.
When returning to Liverpool you either need to catch the Train to Liverpool Lime St (for the World Museum Liverpool & St Georges Hall) or James St for the Albert Dock (Beatles Museum, Slavery Museum, Tate Liverpool, and soon to be built Liverpool Museum the big X on the front)
Around Lime St you will find all the chain food fare, Nando's, Yates, Lloyds, Barmed which will be serving food all day but I wouldnt recomend, there are two good Indian Restuarants a short walk from here Saffron and Sultans Palace however im not sure how early they open.
In the Albert Dock there is abundance of swanky eateries to have lunch from again there is an Indian Spice Lounge which is very nice (with a price tag to match) but im not sure of its opening times... the other places like the Panamerican club, baby cream and Raven will be open all day and really are nice.
Have a great time.
