I found a couple of cheap hotels in the east side of the River in Cologne. Can i cross the river, walking. Anyone knows this hotels?

are they on a suburban area? How much do i spend in public transportation getting there from the city center?

one other question: im going to Wetter, a small town near Hagen, near Dortmund. Which is the best station to catch the train? The Main one or if i stay in the east side of the river, is there a better one?

Don't know both hotels, but found some comments of people who stayed there. Based on that I would defitively prefer the Ars Vivendi!
Yes, you can cross the river walking, this includes also the railway bridge!
Public transport is 1,50 - 1,90 for single ticket, for a whole day 5,20 EUROs.
Going to Hagen, there is a train every hour from Köln-Deutz (close to the hotel)to Hagen - less than 50 min. No reservation required. Taking an IC or ICE train from main station is no value, not much faster much more expensive.

NRW-fare ticket is EUR 15,60. This is a zone-to-zone ticket covering all local public transport. I.e. it covers the complete trip incl. buses.

Single ticket for any trip inside Cologne is EUR 2,30.
Distance to the city centre is approx. 3 km.
