Why is Virtual Tourist still presenting out of date reviews about this pub whose internal ambiance and menu and character changed radically in 2007?

It's the VT member that is presenting it. Not VT itself.
Why don't you email that member and tell them the information needs updating?
You could also write your own tip about this pub with the correct information.

It's the major problem with the Tip system, but the only alternative is not to have any tips at all. Members report on places as they were when they visited, which is all we can do.

It highlights the importance of noting the date the Tip was Posted, and perhaps we should all make a point of including the date of the visit - particularly when writing Tips about accommodation/restaurants/ or entrance fees and other charges.
These things can change overnight and I know I don't always get Tips dowm immediately!

VT is like any other website where members write the reviews - they can be both outdated and personal.

The member who wrote the tip no doubt wrote it is good faith at the time. Nothing wrong with that. It is up to the reader to note the date and also realise that we all have different opinions.

This forum poster has created no tips, no profile, no pictures...just a complaint.

Those of us who use and contribute to VT know that places are always changing, and not to get worried about such things as changes in a given pub.

10 people can visit any pub and all give a different reason why they liked/disliked it.
Some tips can never be rewritten because the writer has never returned there.

Perhaps there should be a suggestion on the site that VT posters should review their own reviews every now and again and clean out those which are "suspect" & to test and modify out of date links and URLs. etc. The advice to e mail the poster if the info is not current is good.
