I have been searching for a place to live, preferably furnished and relatively cheaper, for 4-5 months beginning in February. something close to METU...no luck so far online, any suggestions?

Sorry The Turks are not used to pension system like in EU and USA. The old ladies dont trust foreigners. The young couples dont rent their extra room to students, girls or males A furnished apartment is costed 900-1500 US dollars.
If you are cominh to METU as a student or academicer they have their own dormitory or guset house or hotel. Contact them. If you are coming to a firm as an foreign expert your firm might pay the rente for you. There are many acencies who help the foreigners to rent a furnished flat againts a percentage of commision. Good luck.
