my parents in their 80's are going to fulfil a lifelong desire by Visiting Egypt in the 1st week of December . They have been offered Hotel Casablanca Delta near the pyramids . Is this too far & out of the way ? Can they use the metro to commute to the rest of the tourist sites . How does the hotel rank in general ? Where can i get a map of the metro with links to the important tourist places . thanks and best wishes from Dr Anuj Delhi INDIA

Did a search for the hotetl on Trip Advisor. Nothing.
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Search?returnTo=__2F__&q=Hotel+Casablanca+Delta+%2C+Egypt&sub-search=Go&geo=1

Then did a google and got a couple of hits:
http://www.google.co.il/search?q=Hotel%2BCasablanca%2BDelta+Cairo+Egypt&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

You can check it out.

http://www.a-1hotels.com/eg/allaboutegypt/Trains_Schedules/Buses_Time_Table/Cairo_Metro_Network/cairo_metro_network.htm

will give you a Metro map.

But if your parents are in the 80s I think they may find using the metro very stressful.

There are reviews of the hotel here:

Staying near the pyramids is a bad idea. This area is extremely far from the city centre, and nothing is happening there at night, they will be totally out of the nightlife and of the liveliness of the city after dark. Plus all hotels around the pyramids are uninteresting and poor quality as they cater to package tourists. During hte day, due to traffic jam, it takes over an hour to reach the centre. During the night, it still takes a good 35 mn if not more.

Your parents would be much better in the city centre. if they want something calm, they can book a hotel in a hotel located in a neighborhood very close to the centre, such as Zamalek island.

As for the metro, it's extremely clean but not very practical as it does not go to many touristic places. Also note that the "Giza" station is extremely far from the pyramids.
The best way to commute is to take a taxi. They are extremely cheap and you find them everywhere. Of course, taxis taken right in front of a hotel will tend to ask more money, but you can always negotiate.
