10 years in the same job. I leave today.
I can't face all the speeches an platitudes. I will avoid it all just by walking out in half an hour's time. |

20yrs in the same job. I left 1st July 2008. It was getting too predictable and too many factors outside own control. I am enjoying my break and rediscovering things that I gave a miss then, and also seeing many new things.

last job i left i tried to sneak off
but the buggers got me - flowers, card, wine - speeches the lot felt like throwing up when i got out when i read the card one guy had put " i wanted to be the first to go -- congratulations on getting out so soon" LOL |

good luck in the future. What you paln to do is my plan for over three and a half years! I just cannot face speeches and being the centre of attraction! Plus the charge nurse has not been pleasant while I have been there so why listen to her on my last day

30 years in the same company and some government minister proposed last weekend we Dutchies should work till age 70.

I don't blame you for just walking and avoiding the platitudes and speeches. I did the same thing when I retired. My last day I just cleaned my desk and walked. Its a very freeing feeling. Enjoy it and then on to the next job for you.

What made you stay this long? But...I hope it doesn't put you in a bind. I've always had another job to go to before leaving the job I had. This is my 3rd place of employment after working 30 years and I'm very happy now. I can see myself retire from where I'm at and I don't have to ever look for another job again. I hope it all works out for you!

I have been working the same job for 38 years. There will be no speeches or platitudes ( whatever a platitude is ) when I retire from it.

I had been working in the same area for 16 years till 2 years ago when I moved on. Good luck with the new venture. If it's what you were talking about I'm sure it will be great.
