Getting a bit cooler but we were there end October last and it was very pleasant.
Not as hot as Borneo mind you, but you are young and on honeymoon......

We allow Y100.00 ($100 )for a room night average . You can dinner eat well for Y10.00 ($10)each and breakfast and lunch from convenience stores for half that and very high standard. Travel itself is a major cost and look at JR passes bought outside Japan for savings. Busses seem cheap although they can take longer. Toyoko Inns cost about Y80.00($80)) night double and are fine. Some ryokans are wonderful and can cost the same in places, other than major cities.
Does this help?

The changing colour of the leaves is a good reason to visit Japan. The colours and the setting in traditional gardens make perfect pictures for sure. I've been there once during autumn and I would go back again if I have the time.

Another reason is that stopover is always cheaper than flying as a separate trip to Japan.

You can travel in Japan in a budget way. I would stick to a couple of places and stay there. 10 days isn't a lot and you don't want to move around too much with your luggages. If it is still true since my last visit 2 years ago, there are few elevators and escalators in train/subway stations.

Hello,

My friend went to Japan for Honeymoon and they stayed in http://www.kimi-ryokan.jp/Chage.html ryokan while in tokyo, its about S$78 per night..

So i believe there are ryokan about that price in Kyoto and hiroshima..
definitely you can do everything Budget! you should get the 7 days JR Pass, stay in Tokyo for the 1st fewdays, activate it on the 3rd day or your trip.then go to Hiroshima and Kyoto, and be back to TOkyo on the 10th day.

Food you can budge S$7-10 per meal. Good Luck and Happy honeymoon!
