Middle East Istanbul to Aleppo train not running
Posted: Thu July 24, 2008 05:38 PM UTC
Just to let you know that the Taurus Express from Istanbul to Aleppo is NOT running at the moment. The estimate is that it will be running again in September. My travel agent in Istanbul is booking the bus for me, 20 hours from Istanbul to Aleppo. Has anyone done this journey?

I asked on German railfan forum. They have locally embedded "spies" in Istanbul, so we will see soon from the best source.

BTW: even if this is true, ask about the train to Adana or Fevizpasa, no need to spend 20 hours in a bus.

Look at the Turkiye railway map and see yourself:

If there is no international train, you can still travel to Adana, Fevizpasa and so on and take a much shorter route by bus.

The latest information: TCDD goes to Gaziantep as usual, the track work is in the border region. That means, you can use any train as far as Gaziantep if you prefer the trains. No need to suffer in the bus for 20 hours.
