Anybody have this irritating thing? How do you deal with it? Seems like there are no remedies.

Aloe gel is cooling and works for minor burns.

Cold water and aloe vera.
And next time you're out in the sun for long, wear sunscreen! |

There's some kind of Norwegian skin lotion they sell at big department stores--it has the flag on the side of the bottle. If you can get your hands on that, it seems to heal sun rash fairly quickly.

Norwegian skin lotion?? Well I can't get that here in Spain LOL. As for the other stuff, I read that none of them really work, but they relive at least. I'm trying Calamine right now Elodie :o) It's hard keeping totally out of the sun here on the Sun Coast

Apply cortisone cream and stay out of the sun.

Out of the sun is sort of logical, but I hear they don't recommend cortisone any more. Not sure why though.

Cortisone can have harmful side effects - permanent thinning of the skin is one of them.

In India (at least in the western part), my relatives would apply freshly-cut raw onion halves to the rash, liberally juicing the skin. Smelly, but it worked.

Onion. . . yoghurt. . . if you like the flees and wasps buzzing around you, could be good!. . . I’m afraid there is nothing to do except long sleeves. . . . I know a person who tried everything (even which doctors) since 30 years, unsuccessfully. . . . . Take life from the good side (;

So far I've tried Banana Boat Sooth-A-Caine, Aloe Vera with Lidocaine Spray Gel, Hawaiian Tropics After Sun Aloe Vera and Nivea After Sun Spray. They all work to remove the pain of sunburn. I hope you find one that works best for you.

Use your umbrella next time you will go outside and wear light, cool clothes on your skin during the day to avoid irritating the sun rash too, David! :-P

Nope, it's a sun rash for sure. I've been having it the last 6-7 years, and it makes travelling to a sunny place like Spain a bit of a pain.
It's real strange though as I grew up in the tropics... |

It sounds like 'prickly heat' or miliaria ... I remember getting this as a kid in the tropics. My mother put some kind of powder on which helped; unfortunately I don't remember the name of it; it was a long time ago!

I had this trouble when I went to Exmouth a while ago.
I found that an ointment I had for insect bites,(which was also recommended for all minor skin abrasions, minor burns and sunburn)containing LICNOCAINE,a local anaesthetic, as well as antiseptic soothed the pain and itching, and reduced redness and swelling. Brand names here are Soov and Paxyl, but most chemists have their own brands too. |

why use only one thing . cortizone with a plus that kills pain. cream with aloe , vitamin e OIL ,and vineagar...mix it all to gether in a bowl to make a special cream. adding a litle oat meal POWER if you can get it will make it a thicker cream.
