Croatia Ideas for Zadar
Posted: Thu July 24, 2008 03:49 PM UTC
I'm flying into Zadar late on a Wednesday evening and I am staying there until the Monday following.

I really would like to go out to the islands and genrally be active but by the sea.

Does anyone have anyone have any advice for me/suggestions for places to go or see?

Is it worth hiring a boat for a day for example?

Thanks a lot!

Kornati National Park is beautiful and there are day excursions there. Or you can take a ferry to Dugi otok and see part of it. Pasman island is close as well, I remember this really cute place on it- Kukljica (it's a togue- breaker even for us), which is probably going to be less crowded. Also, there are excursions to Krka National park (83 km from Zadar), and Krka is something, but it's easier to go on an organised excursion or by car, as the public transport doesn't quite reach it. I'm not sure about renting boats ('cause of licenses and stuff) so hopefully someone will give you info on that. Enjoy your holiday!

Thanks for these brilliant answers!

Do you think it will be possible to stay out on the islands at this time? I like the idea of going out to either Dugi Otok or Pasman (as I's a bit of a beach lover) and staying there overnight maybe. I have no accomodation booked whatsoever yet...is this wise?!

Misseille's suggestion of Plitvice sounds good too...is it easy to find day trips to this place without havig to hire a car?
