| Bangkok | Bangkok Sunset river cruise and nice dinner place? Posted: Thu July 24, 2008 02:39 AM UTC
Hi,
Just need some social activity and dinner tips if you have been to a sunset cruise in Bangkok or ate in one of those nice places in Bangkok. I have to arrange some post-conference activities and was thinking of a sunset cocktail cruise at 6.30pm. And then dinner in a nice restaurant at 7.45pm. Any recommendation? Any nice restaurant near the riverside? Budget is about 1,200 -1,300 baht per person. Thanks. |

My wife daur and I did the dinner cruise on the rice barge which cruises leisurely up and down the river. There are a couple of thai dancing girls and some thai music. The food is quite good and the price if I remember was about $35.There is another boat which seemed to have a lot of people on.The rice barge probably holds about 20 and you may be able to negotiate a price directly. All in all though a nice cruise and you pass all .the lights of Bangkok .Don.

I can suggest a couple other options for dinner. Check out www.fishermanseafoodmarket.com located near the river so it's not far away from the sunset cruise. Not a bad place, good food and good prices, I think within your budget. Also I may suggest that you check out China Town located again, close to the river, only a few blocks away on Yaowarat rd. Lots of Chinese restaurants with a wide variety of food choices and they would definitly be within your budget range and have great food. You may have to scout a bit during the conference and set it up but it would be easy and most establishments would be more than willing to accomodate you and almost any number of people. I would suggest going there at night to scout. Then you can see which restaurants and frequented by the locals and busiest. I doubt there are any web sites to contact ahead of time. Also, depending on where you are staying, they may be able to help you with suggestions in China Town or any other place.
Good luck!

| Bangkok | Hi! Posted: Thu July 24, 2008 05:56 AM UTC
Hi Dear VT member,
You have to test the floating resturant in Bangkok, which starts from Riverside Hotel! It is very easy to get there, too. Take a taxi and ask for River Side Hotel!I am sorry to say that I dont remember the schedule,But it is a two ohurs tour with dinner on your choice on menu. Also,I may have the chance to visit Bangkok on my return from Beijing during 2nd week of Dec,2008! Hope you enjoy in Bangkok! Yours, Mike

Hi thanks for all the tips.
I will check the Seafoodmarket and the riverside hotel also. Best that I pre-book instead of scouting for restaurants to reduce the hassle of taking care a bunch of people. What about the Dome State-Sirocco? Is it nice? Contacted Loyvana Cruise. They have a package for private charter too.
