40€ to 60€ assuming it's not on the Friday evening of a long weekend holiday.

Here's how Paris taxi fares are calculated:
http://members.virtualtourist.com/vt/tfr/1/18308/9/1b9be7/ Assuming you mean Novotel Paris La Defense (address: 2 Boulevard de Neuilly), the distance is 31 kms from CDG airport.

Most Novotels have an airport shuttle. Check with the hotel. That would be much easier.
You can also take the RER to Chatelet-les-Halles and the Metro line 1 direction La Defense-Grande Arche and get off at the Esplanade de la Defense stop. It's just a few blocks to the Novotel.

I get a kick out of this online taxi fare calculator for Paris:
http://www.worldtaximeter.com/paris/ When I put in CDG to your destination I get this: -(assuming you arrive in am): Estimated Fare using meter at 08:43 Distance: 29.58 km. | Duration: 29 min. jump in the taxi 2.10 € (this is probably wrong - should be 5,60 ?) 29.58 km. x 1.10 € per km 32.55 € (should be 30km x 0,83 euro?) waiting in traffic (~11 min.) 5.55 € (thought this was clever) Total 40.20 € Sounds close but who knows? Anke-Thea is probably more accurate. Either way, it's a fun tool to play with for estimating Paris fares & my hat's off to whoever put this little taxi fare site together. Supposedly works in Amsterdam Barcelona Berlin Boston Chicago Dublin London Los Angeles Madrid New York Paris Prague Rome San Francisco Toronto. It would be fun to know if you think it's accurate in your city. Best regards!

When I wrote my tip I could not find more recent fares than those of 2007. Could be that they count for 2008 also.
I ploughed through pages of www.prefecture-police-paris.interieur.gouv.fr to find the info. Let's say 30-60 euro, shall we? :-)

Works for me!
But speaking facetiously & without seriousness, here in the US we do not have the luxury of a Prime Minister like Mr Balkenende. When instead your acting "head" of state is a mentally-defective cowboy, eventually your dollars slowly & steadily become worthless, so a mere 30-Eu difference for a cab can become a lot! ;)

Don't complain too much though.
Dutch petrol is the most expensive in Europe: 2.69 USD against 1.08 USD per litre in the US.

Isn't that amazing?
The intricacies of how petroleum is paid for & distributed is WAY over my head. I have heard (erroneously or not) that opposed to Europe, somehow (again I apologize for my ignorance) the US govt. in the past and maybe still today manages to "subsidize" petrol in some way (less tax, etc) at the wholesale level to bring it to the pump for a little less, and/or Netherlands is also adding a much higher tax at retail level to discourage waste and acquire revenue for infrastructure, repairs, etc. - something the US should be doing as well imo. Do you know if this is so? I would appreciate a better understanding. All I know is 2 days ago I paid $4.05 / gallon (1.07 / liter = .68 EUR wow ... that is a huge difference vs. $2.69 or 1.71 EUR / liter Hollanders are paying) at a discount station, costing me around $55 to fill up. A year ago it was nearly half that. I live in a rural area so public transportation like what I loved in Amsterdam, Paris, and NYC is not available. Not to preach but if these prices force us to finally find alternatives to petrol & coal, in the long run it will be a good thing for a lot of reasons. Thanks and be well.

In NL the fuel prices haven't gone over 1.70 EUR yet. In fact, today it's a bit lower, 1.60 EUR. Still very high. Especially with a 75 litre tank. Every trip to the pump is a major investment.

Hello,
You can easily calculate the price of the taxi there: http://www.taxis-g7.com/, then "infos pratiques", then "estimer cout et durée". It indicates between 47 et 57 euros, for a travel on 5th of August, leaving airport at 11am (completely random). One thing to know is that in Paris, prices are fixed by the county, so from one company to another (Taxi G7, Taxis Bleus, etc...), it's quite the same. But I agree, it's very expensive. Depending on the time and day you arrive in Paris, it might be quicker to take the train and metro (but then it will be overcrowded, especially on line 1 at rush hours)
