You will be staying in Los Angeles - southeast of Hollywood. Wilshire Boulevard has a lot of Museums. The Kodak Theatre - Grauman's Chinese Theatre is up on Hollywood Boulevard and Highland. The area is mixed - you can travel a few blocks in any direction and you can be in a dirty, ugly neighborhood and another direction you can be in a beautiful, very nice neighborhood. Take extra care in walking about at night. During the day should be no problem. Not familiar with the hotels in the area. I'll just say you get what you pay for.

You can see what streets are included in this area by going to this website and entering in the zip code:

"...you can travel a few blocks in any direction and you can be in a dirty, ugly neighborhood and another direction you can be in a beautiful, very nice neighborhood..."

The good direction is west or north-west, the bad is generally south, south-east, or east.
